Where Are Your Open Waters?

The title of this painting, Toward Open Waters (now available at Lu Martin Galleries in Laguna Beach, CA) was completed on July 4, 2020 and refers to sailing in the direction of freedom. That freedom may be in ones mind or in the world around us. I tend to believe that the first place to experience freedom is within, because that is a state of being that can’t be taken from us by events in the world. There is a place of knowing and an empowerment in the choice to pick an optimal perspective that exists regardless of circumstances.

This painting is also the first painting that I fully started and completed during the stay-at-home time of 2020. I share more of the meaning embedded in this painting in an informal video link below.
