original painting by Brooke Harker.
I associate the image of the Eiffel Tower with freedom, or atleast have after the
years I lived in Germany when it felt fancy to say that I was going to Paris for the
weekend. On one of my first trips, I bought a little tourist souvenir of the Eiffel
tower and kept it in my car to remind me of jumping in puddles by Notre Dame,
riding the carousel, and running along cobblestone streets at night on my birthday
laughing and hiding behind cars as my friends attempted to spray me with silly
string.
The actual painting of this piece felt tedious at first and challenged me in many
ways, which can only be beneficial to learn and grow as an artist. I worked on this
painting in the off hours from time spent in NLP Practitioner training at the
Clarity Institute, a program that I wish everyone on the planet could
take as the world would be a better place. I think it was serendipity that
Neurolinguistic Programming helped me free myself from unhelpful mental
programming in the days that I painted a symbol that meant freedom to me…
