Artist’s Description: In selecting reference images from photos taken on an adventure to Hong Kong, the silhouettes of teenagers depicted in this painting amongst the night lights drew my attention. I would not have seen from this angle had I not crouched to drink water in the humid summer weather in front of one of Hong Kong’s many 7-11s…I have never seen so many 7-11s in my life or in such a concentrated area.  The 7-11s carried a lot of Hello Kitty gift items which I...

original painting by Brooke Harker  Click for Availability The image in this painting comes from a photo I took while I sat  and sketched on the steps of the Sensoji Temple in Tokyo.  I remember the moment that I discovered I could wet my paintbrush in a nearby puddle.  I felt so resourceful.  I fell in love with umbrellas on that day.  I also fell deeper in love with sketching live scenes. For that reason this scene is one of the most significant in my memory and dear to my heart. click here to see a photo with the painting.

Artist Description: I met a group of people from Orange County one summer on the set of a music video for charity. They invited me to Laguna Beach to hear music at the Hotel Laguna which appears in this painting. I fell in love with Laguna that day. This view is near a restaurant that I like to go to for breakfast. A dear person in my life at the time followed me while I took photos to be sure that I didn’t get hit by a car. As I snapped pictures, one of my best friends crossed...
