Artist’s Description: Sometimes the views we know are only possible because of the people we knew. As I painted this, I realized how much my life changed from the moment this scene first captured my attention to the moment the paint landed on the canvas. There is nostalgia in this work for joyful times and the loss of a love I never imagined losing. The houses in this painting looked out over the ocean, although most people wouldn’t know that unless they were familiar with the town. As I painted this, I contemplated what love really means and the idea of a truth greater than what our minds can tell us. I thought a lot about different perspectives. The pursuit of creating this painting held my heart at a time when I didn’t know how to move forward and wasn’t sure that I wanted to; It gave me a place to put my love. I put a lot of my heart in this work because it sprang from a place where my heart once soared and wiggled and giggled.
