Although I went to Hong Kong alone, when I captured the photo that inspired this painting, the buzz of the city energy kept me company. There were lights, taxis and double decker buses in most directions, which gave my eyes much to digest. The first layer of this painting is a lime wash inspired by the neon glow of the street signs. I painted the street and the couple who held hands along the famous Nathan Road with ink, and then used thick oil strokes with a palette knife to express the array of lively colors prevalent in the Hong Kong night life.
