Artist’s Description: In selecting reference images from photos taken on an adventure to Hong Kong, the silhouettes of teenagers depicted in this painting amongst the night lights drew my attention. I would not have seen from this angle had I not crouched to drink water in the humid summer weather in front of one of Hong Kong’s many 7-11s…I have never seen so many 7-11s in my life or in such a concentrated area. The 7-11s carried a lot of Hello Kitty gift items which I contemplated buying for my Hello Kitty obsessed friend in LA. My thoughts were of Hello Kitty when I crouched for the water and saw this composition. Sometimes seeing a scene from a different perspective brings new insight.
