Now OPEN At Gabba Gallery On-Line- “Remix: The Art Of Music” 60+ Artists

Hello Friends–What music inspires you?  How has that music influenced or been the soundtrack for your life? Does it move you to make art or look at your life like art?

This is my third year participating in “Remix: The Art of Music,” 60 + artists curated by Jason Ostro & Elena Jacobson at Gabba Gallery, which donates a portion of the proceeds to Adopt the Arts in LA to help fun music education programs for children in local schools.

This exhibit was selected by LA Weekly for Art Pick this Week!

Or click to my painting “Heart Song” inspired by Brandi Carlile here: https://www.gabbagallery.com/remix-2020-art/brooke-harker-heart-song

This is a little different than the cityscape paintings I normally share, however my paintings are always inspired by people and their actions and choices.

See more below about why I chose the image of Brandi Carlile to be the face of my art in this exhibit.

“Heart Song” by Brooke Harker 16″ x 20″ ink & acrylic on canvas available at Gabba Gallery

“Heart Song” references discovering the music of the singer songwriter Brandi Carlile during quarantine…a multiple time Grammy award winning musician, and I just found her!!!:)) This painting can’t capture what her music has done for my soul, however I did do some air guitar moves between paint strokes. The title “Heart Song” points to her song “Wherever Is Your Heart,” and that is mainly what I listened to while painting this…and also “The Eye” although I found her through her song “Dying Day.”

Now I listen to her so much while painting my cityscapes.  Although I often paint in silence, I love to put Brandi’s music on a headset and dance while making decisions about what to do next. I know my moves have a bit of a Muppet vibe, although in my imagination I have the skills of a back up dancer for a rockstar:)

I am in awe and deeply grateful for the divine energy that Brandi Carlile brings to this earth through her music…and am thankful that she is in the soundtrack for what I paint for the world.

What a blessing on this planet.

What music has blessed you? Send me a message, and I will listen when I paint!
