The image in this painting comes from a photo I took while I sat and sketched on
the steps of the Sensoji Temple in Tokyo. I remember the moment that I discovered
I could wet my paintbrush in a nearby puddle. I felt so resourceful. I fell in love
with umbrellas on that day. I also fell deeper in love with sketching live scenes.
For that reason this scene is one of the most significant in my memory and dear to
